I'm Back - With a $200 Design Contest

Color Outside the Lines is back in action, with a design contest. The prize? $200 gift certificate to the Calico Corners website. Yes, $200 you can use for shopping over 2500 designer fabrics and trims, furniture, bedding, table cloths, and custom orders! All you have to do is enter to win. For months I've been inspired by the many fantastic rooms you've all posted on HGTV's Rate My Space and on blogs; and because of many of you, Color Outside of the Lines was born. It's time to pay you back with appreciation!

The Contest:
NOTE: You do NOT have to be a professional designer! This is a contest, not a competition. All you need is a room, and the ability to find a couple of fabrics from the CalicoCorners website that you'd like to use in that room! Then just tell me what you want to do: pillows, curtains, fabric covered walls, a canopy, a rug - you name it, be creative! And please - play along! Everyone is welcome to play!

I'm interested in seeing your design ideas. First, leave a comment telling me you'd like to play along! Then, take a picture of any room in your home you'd like to redesign or redecorate. Check out the Calico Corners website and choose 2 of your top fabric choices for the room re-do! Send me the picture and the fabric choices, along with your ideas on how to use the fabric.

Be creative! Think outside the box! I'll be judging based upon creativity, usefulness, and impact on the chosen room. The top 10 designs will be posted on the blog, and readers will choose the winner of the $200 gift certificate to Calico Corners Online, where you can shop over 2500 designer fabrics and trims, custom furniture, bedding, and window treatments in all styles and prices!

Don't forget to sign up for the Calico Corners $5000 Shopping Spree during their 60th Anniversary Celebration while you're looking for inspirational fabric!

PLEASE NOTE: CALICO CORNERS HAS NO AFFILIATION TO THIS BLOG, AND THE CONTEST IS SPONSORED BY COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES.

Duration:

You have until midnight, Wednesday, September 10, 2008 to submit your rooms to me at artie.vanderpool@gmail.com . I urge you to play along and mention the contest to all of your friends.

All you have to do is comment on the blog that you'll be playing along, send the picture to me, visit Calicocorners.com to choose your inspiration fabric, and let me know how you'll use it in the space. Simple? Simple! I can't wait to see what you choose, and be wowed by all of your creative ideas! You can buy quite a bit of fabric for $200, so join in and play along! Invite your friends and neighbors to stop by and play along - the more, the merrier!

I just found your blog through Tootsie and oddly enough I was thinking I need to make a trip to Calico Corners to look for the Toile I have in my head for the mew bathroom shower curtain. Anyway, I see you are from Western NY; my youngest son graduated from RIT in 2007, so if you are from around Rochester I am somewhat familiar with your area and the CC in Pittsford. Do you know "Simply Crepes? Yum.

That's all for now, stop by for a visit sometime. I am also in Real Estate.

Artie, are you INSANE???????????? You're such a beautiful person, buying a blogger you've never even met a $200 gc!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! Unfortunately, this is totally out of my league, especially here in the rental house. But, I can't wait to see the comments you get and who wins and what they'll do with the gc!!!!!!!!!

Artie I'd love to play but I do not know where to start, like Justine i feel a bit out of my depth here, because while I had rooms on RMS it is nothing like the beautiful rooms you'd probably get in this competiton, not to mention I am not a designer.

I wish this was a post-your-room-and-I'll-give-you-advice opportunity instead! LOL!!

But because you are such a sweetheart I will play anyway just for fun!

I rarely leave comments here - but I want everyone to know this is not a competition, but a contest! You don't have to be a professional designer to win or play, you just have to have a room, and the ability to find a couple of fabrics from the CalicoCorners website that you'd like to use in that room! Then just tell me what you want to do: pillows, curtains, fabric covered walls, a canopy, a rug - you name it, be creative! And please - play along! Everyone is welcome to play!

Hey Artie, You have us all scared. Well give me a little time and I'll see if I can't come up with an entry for you. No promises on it being earth shattering but what the heck, you can't win if you don't try!

Hey Arite! I missed you - glad you are back! I'm up for the challenge - count me in! My 14 year old living room decor is due for a facelift don't you think? I had it on RMS and it still had a 3.7....I'm more cottage than your taste, but I'll give it shot - what the heck. ~ Robyn

Welcome back, Artie! I'm so glad you weren't gone too long. Well, I have to say, this is a VERY generous giveaway you've got going on here. Very generous, indeed! I am, in fact, working on a decorating project that I could use some fabric for so I just might have to put a couple pictures together and share my vision with you.

Artie I would love to be included inthis contest though I am quite hesitant as creativity in getting outside the box is difficult for me but I am ready for the stretch. I am a little confused as to how, when I find the fabric I send you the pics- is your email somewhere or do I send it differently-sorry no computer wiz here as you can tell!!!!:) mary

OH Artie so sorry - I did just find your email! I am glad you have given us a little bit of time- I started looking at the fabrics, my so many to choose from and my entire house is a project as we just bought this 100 years plus house with 40's kitchen and bath!! (original). Now to figure out which project and which fabric!! I hope I make the deadline.

Hi Artie,

It's nice to meet you. I came here because of the comments I've read of yours, on Gollums blog, found you interesting and looked you up. I'm so glad I did. :)

I'd love to enter the contest and will send you something soon. I'm so ready to do a makeover of one of our rooms, it needs some new life.
