TUESDAY: Inspiring Spaces by Steve and Blogger Brooke Giannetti

I had to think long and hard before I sat down tonight to write this inspiration designer post, afterall, I'm in the middle of re-vamping my own house, which I hope to show you all tomorrow, and Brooke Giannetti is a tough act to follow.

Brooke, as many - if not all - of you know as the author behind Velvet & Linen and owner of the boutique interior design store and studio: Giannetti Home. Brooke is a wonderful blogger, and inspiring designer, who luckily gets to work in many fabulous homes designed by her architect husband Steve Giannetti, who is really at the very top of his field.

If you've been reading the blog over the past couple of days, you know that I'm switching things up over here at CdlV. I have been out looking for inspiration, there has been no shortage of beautiful rooms created by Brooke on her blog Velvet & Linen. Soft, with the perfect balance of masculine and feminine, her rooms are the sum of all that is en vogue. More than that though, they're timeless, and effortlessly done. They have that certain perfect imperfection that only comes from years and years of design experience and a curatorial eye that comes from wonderful experiences of a life well lived, learning, and the desire for grace and elegance. Here are a few of my favorites, but there's no shortage of inspiration for you on her blog: Velvet & Linen.

No one does shelves quite like Brooke. She finds the most interesting objects in her travels and weekly flea market thrifting. Pairing the usual with the unusual, the handmade with the mass marketed, the old with the new, she creates a flow and a real sense of a collection forged through the years. Magnificence.

And if it wasn't bad enough that her family is absolutely gorgeous, and there's no shortage of design talent between she and her husband Steve, he's also a painter! Those painting on either side of the fireplace are originals that you can buy on their website.

No other blogger has impressed me more than Brooke with their use of burlap. There's something about the way she uses it, the detail she seeks in it's construction ... it looks so expensive. Brooke's roman shades in her kid's study/craft room is exactly what I need in my new dining room - so I hope that I'll have something half as tailored and expensive looking when all is said and done!
Here again, Brooke uses burlap panels in her beautiful bathroom. I keep hoping that those gilded tassels will be under the Christmas tree this year!
More of her perfect shelves.
