Too Many Irons in the Fire

Wow! I can't believe it's been so long since I've caught up with my friends, here on the blog. I promise, I'm still here ... but busy beyond belief! It's special order season for my Cross Bottles, (http://crossbottleguy.blogspot.com) so I've been spending all of my free time, working in the stu-stu-studio!

I've made some beautiful stuff though, and introduced these one-of-a-kind beauties to lots of new homes, so that makes me incredibly happy. I'm also hard at work trying to plan the decor for the house I've been given for the Lewiston Tour of Homes this Christmas. Not to mention my daily job, caring for animals, and Scott. So, although I've meant to update the blog ... sleep just seemed so much more necessary.

Luckily though, I'm back - and will have a post about some changes here at CDLV pretty soon. I'm waiting for the seamstress to finish some custom work for our dining room, that I know you're gonna love! But my real reason for posting this morning is a bit more selfish. You see, with all this work - I've decided that I need a vacation, and booked one spur of the moment to Washington, DC. Can you believe I've never been! :(

So, for those of you who live near or in DC, where should I go, what should I make certain I do, where do we eat, etc.. I only have 4 days and 3 nights at my disposal, so although it's quick - I think I can fit quite a lot in. I look forward to hearing from you - and sharing with you photos of the trip as soon as I get back!

Til' then - leave a comment or email me with any recommendations you have! I'll be very grateful!

xoxo,
A

  1. If you find yourself at lunchtime not knowing where to eat, don't resort to eating from a food truck on the Mall. :) The restaurant (cafeteria style) at the Native American Museum is fantastic, and you can get a wide variety of foods (we like Indian, but there's everything) at the Old Post Office, just a block or two away from the main drag.

  3. National Gallery of Art, Phillips Collection, Corcoran Gallery are not to be missed. Dumbarton Oaks is a beautiful garden, and near Georgetown, which I also love - plenty of places for lunch there. I love DC.

  4. You have to try the Old Ebbitt Grill!! It is a DC institution and is close to the White House. Many of the politicians go here. I have been twice and I love it! The food is top notch and you just might see a political "star" (if there is such a thing). I also love walking around Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria.

  8. Call your senator's office and tell them you are visiting. You will get a private tour of the Capitol (by an intern). This is completely true! And most people don't realize it's possible. Every state's senator's office offers this, though you do want to book as advance as possible. You'll breeze through lines, go through back doors and get the whole history in about two hours.
