FRIDAY: Vignette Fridays

Happy Friday! Oh, and if this is your first time here, WELCOME! And please, consider becoming a follower on the right sidebar. I can hardly believe that we've been putting together beautiful vignettes for each other and the blogging world for 7 weeks, can you?

Each week you all blow me away with your beautiful vignettes created with the most beautiful objects. It's really special getting to take a peak at some of your most treasured collections, and I thank you for sharing those with me, and with everyone who passes through your blog via Color Outside the Lines.

This week, I showed you some recent pictures of the house, one of which included this vignette:

This all sits atop a 3.5' square Pottery Barn ottoman covered in a beautiful harvest colored paisley. Many times decorating such a large space meant to serve so many purposes, the items can look disparate. I find that the best way to remove that feeling is to add a tray, and layer atop it. The best part is, when it's time to use the ottoman for seating - off the tray comes and down the bottoms go!

I had hoped to get some new pictures up for you - but I'm sure there will be loads of inspiration in the links below. I ask that you all say a kind word today for Scott, as he experienced a great loss tonight. Ariel, a cat that Scott has been a kind and loving pet parent to for more than 17 years has left us. As you can imagine, it's quite hard for him, and I'll be spending the necessary time away from the blog this weekend to be there when he needs me.

So, I'm leaving the linky up extra long - feel free to put something together and throw it on at anytime! You're all the best! The button to post on your blog this week is here:

Please post it to let everyone know that you are participating, and direct them back to Color Outside the Lines to see all of the other vignettes! Just below, you'll find where you can add your link thanks to inlinkz!

  3. Best to you both, Artie! Thanks for hosting. Your vignette and your fall look is really wonderful. It would be wonderful to spend time there. I have a home similar to what you described with not enough space, and quirky at that, but the challenge somehow brings out the best effort and effect in a way. Or at least a lot of process, which some of us love! Jacqueline

  4. Losing a beloved pet is always hard- you got me thinking about our cairn terrier Dickens. It's been many years, but it still leaves an empty space in your heart....
Thanks for hosting this party, it's so much fun to see all that inspiration out there. :-)

  5. Artie-I love the colors the hydrangeas turn as fall gets closer. Please tell Scott not to give up hope (it sounds as if she ran away). I know he is grieving her loss. Those of us who love our furry family members understand. Thanks for taking time to host the party--I am happy to be able to join in the fun.

I'm not sure if you've heard...I've moved to typepad. Bit of a problem with my old blog.

I can't get the thumbnail to work for my entry. I'll try for that later.

  9. Thanks for hosting, Artie..it is always fun to follow the links to the different blogs.

Scott- I am SOOO sorry that you have lost your wonderful companion. I know your heartache.
Two years ago this week I had to put our little MistyCat down. She was 12 and still had all those kittenish ways. She went downhill very quickly. I went in expecting she had a little virus or something and they found a large tumor where her esphagus led into her stomach area. It is never easy to lose a pet...it's like you lose a bit of your soul that was tied into them...that part that speaks and connects without words.

Sleep well tonight..knowing that your baby is in a peaceful place somewhere over rainbow bridge. I'm sure you've read the poem that goes with that saying? If not, let me know and I will forward it to you. Hugs, Artie ~ Diana

Please realy my condolences to Scott. Having been a pet parent for many years, I truly understand the loss. These little creatures ask for so little and give so much in return. My heart is with the both of you.

  15. Hello Artie...

My friend, I am so sorry about the loss of your dear pet! Please give my regards to Scott.

Artie, your vignette is simply gorgeous! Ohhh...those beautiful, big hydrangea blooms are stunning! Such pretty warm, autumnal colors too! I totally agree with you, using a tray can bring a vignette together nicely and easily removed if the circumstances call for it! I often create my dining room table centerpieces on a tray so that I can remove it while dining.

Thank you for sharing your lovely vignette with us and thank you for hosting this fabulous Friday party! I'm so excited...this is my first time to participate!

    Warmest autumn wishes,
    Chari @Happy To Design

  22. I'm new to your blog, Artie, but I'd like to offer my condolences to Scott on losing his friend Ariel. Losing a furry family member can be very difficult; I was devastated when our first dog passed away. We got her before we had kids and she was like our first kid.

  24. Hi Artie and Scott~ ~ ~Just this week I lost my Beloved Babaje also. He was the most amazing cat I have ever shared my life with. I could write a book about his wisdom beyond what is a cat. He is the one in my arms in my picture. I am feeling your pain Scott. They will both be dearly missed.

Thanks for hosting Artie this is my first week joining you.
