Fringe Benefits ...

How many of you have a Hollister in your local shopping mall? Have no idea what I'm talking about? Then you probably don't have teenage children! Hollister is an Abercrombie brand offering casual clothes and jeans for young adults. It's probably not the first place you'd think to look for design inspiration - but as I've said before, it comes from just about everywhere!

Looking familiar? Sandwiched between stores like Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, Hollister is always in prime locations and smells of the newest, hottest cologne while blasting the newest, hottest music. The catalog, (no surprise, they are an Abercrombie brand) sells sex over clothes and if you're anything in the high-school clique, you've got something from Hollister in your closet.

It's been a long time since I worried about what brand of jeans I had. A LONG TIME! I'd much rather spend my money on home decor. Speaking of ...

See that green chair? In the entry of just about every single Hollister store sit two chairs, a velvet fringe piped club chair, and a burgundy leather one.

It's no different in both all of the Hollister stores in my area. I snapped this photo of the chair with my iphone:

Beautiful right? Now where in the heck do they find these chairs? Surely, there's a frame they've chosen, along with the fabric and fringe, and when they open a store they plop one in. I searched and searched, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

  1. I would say that someone in the company decided how the stores would be "decorated" and decided upon the two chairs. They have enough outlets, I'm sure, that having that chair made for them was no problem.

I, too, covet that chair although I've never been to a Hollister's (I'm not a Mall person).

I think I would check with management to see where they got the chair, if they could order you one, and if not, when they redecorate if they would call you because you'd like to buy it!

It's that comfy English style chair, isn't it -- it would look grand at Linderhof as well!

  3. The chairs are amazing; you might write to the corporate management...

My granddaughter Isabella has quite a few Hollister outfits for her start of 7th Grade! She actually shopped online and everything fit! Good quality!

Artie my Mother was so touched by the Cross Bottle you sent for her. She is handling the cancer therapy well; tires very easily, it is these surprises that brighten her day!

  4. Artie,
As the mom of three, I have definitely shopped in Hollister. I get so distracted by the decor while I am in there! I love the beachy vibe. Funny, before my oldest gave in to the peer pressure - he used to say, "Why would I want to get my clothes at A&F? They can't even dress their models?" They don't miss a thing! When you find out about the green chair - do share :)

  5. Now you see....why I love slipcovers! You could recreate that with slipcovers. The cushions look like brush fringe, the skirt has a row of bullion fringe. All of the fringe would make it quite expensive. I have a picture of a red sofa with bullion fringe over the skirt that I have had for years! I love this look!

  8. I have been in love with that green fringed chair forever in front of Hollister. I thought it was an original until now. Guess they mass produced them for all the stores. Still, it looks vintage. Actually, I love anything upholstered in green velvet!

  10. Very artistic and well painted painting. The contour and lighting are well represented by different light gradient.

  11. Re 'slipcover chic's'comment. Totally agree re the trims and would be easy but most likely expensive to (have)duplicate(d). Good luck on your hunt Artie.

  12. I've been seeking out these chairs too... alas, to no avail either. Guess I'll just have to upholster my own in this Boheme' Style... only I will use some Kilim Style Fabrics and Belgian Velvets I think. *Winks*

  14. Did you ever find out where to buy the green Hollister chair?

  15. Several years ago, I emailed Hollister and asked about acquiring a chair and was told in a perfunctory manner that those chairs are proprietal (sp) information and they did not share any information with me. Ever since then, I have been a little less enthusiastic about shopping for my daughter in their stores.

  16. As Goods Not For Resale the best avenue is contacting a bespoke seating specialist. I purchased mine from http://www.poplarseating.co.uk/
