Many of you know that CDLV is just minutes from the brink of Niagara Falls ... one of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of the world. Of course, just like those people who live in Washington, D.C., near and amongst the many monuments and world class museums, I take it for granted, and rarely go. Scott and I used to walk their daily with the dogs, and would run to catch the nightly fireworks display. Now, we walk the dogs around the block, and simply see the 'boom' of the fireworks as an indication that it's 10PM.
While my mother and my niece were here, however, we did a lot of the touristy things, including the Maid of the Mist boat ride, which is the only way you can understand the scope of the falls, their size, and the sheer magnitude of their power. My mother and niece were in awe ... and I thought you might be too. For those of you who follow me on
Instagram, this might be a bit of a refresher ... for everyone else, enjoy!
My niece, Mikayla ... patiently waiting her turn.
Dear Artie, so much beauty and power. It is amazing what we can find in our own backyards!

True indeed, Karena!
DeleteYou've made me miss my hometown.I had forgotten what it was like to live there. Thanks for the refresher course in how great it really is(even with all it's problems).
ReplyDeleteWell, Chris, if you ever make your way back, please let me know!
DeleteI went with some cousins from Arizona a few years ago. I agree, when it's in your backyard you never really think of going but when you do go, it's amazing. I can't get over the color or the water. It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've decided that for as long as I'm still living here Steve, I'm going to go on the Maid of the Mist once per year, just so I don't forget how beautiful it really is.
DeleteThis is one of my favorite places to visit! Especially Niagara on the Lake! Lucky you to be so close!
ReplyDeleteOh, Patti! Niagara on the Lake is stunning! Next time you're around let me know!! :)
Deleteit is so true. we take living so close to such a natural wonder for granted. my hubby and i were just talking about doing a tourist day in niagara falls again. we are only a 10 min drive to the falls so it shouldn't be so hard to arrange.lol.
ReplyDeleteMeg if you and hubby come over, let me know. Cross the border and I'll buy you lunch!
DeleteYou are right, my friend. I can't remember the last time I visited the monuments here in DC. Fabulous photos!!! Hope it wasn't too wet :)

So nice to see that your are enjoying your Mom's visit. Even though its been eons since I went on the tour, it really is spectacular and like you would encourage anyone to take it. (It is about six hours from where I live.) Fantastic photos Artie and your Niece is adorable BTW. Thanks for sharing. -Brenda-
ReplyDeleteP.S: For the landlubbers, they claim 'the best view of them' is actually from the Canadian side. ☺
