Space to Fill - Vol 3. Issue 6

They called me back!

For those of you unfamiliar with how the audition process goes, typically you attend an open call for a show where you audition with sides (lines from the script) of characters you may have no interest in playing, and music that best shows your range and talent. This open call is for all actors, equity and non-equity (meaning part of a union of actors, and not part of a union) and could be in front of all of the open call attendees, or as part of scheduled auditions with the core staff of the show: producer, director, musical director, choreographer, stage manager.

The second part of this process is called, call backs. Call backs are essentially that, they call you back in to read for a part in the show that they feel your open call audition best suited you to, and if there is music in the show, they want you to sing the music for the character they're thinking you should play.

Call backs do not mean you're cast in the show, however, they are promising, and present a second opportunity for you to really show your talent and give them all you've got! So, when I got my call back last night for the part of Warner, the part I REALLY want to play, I jumped up and down a little bit, and naturally, rushed here this morning to tell all of you!

This weekend I'll be really good! I'll exercise, I'll rest my voice, I'll not drink, and I'll think positive thoughts, and do a little role research. So to that end, indulge me won't you - while we go Harvard prep on the blog today!

Happy Friday!

Space to Fill - Vol. 2 Issue 2

It's Friday, and after the week I've had, this signal of "the end" as it were, couldn't come soon enough. Lately, I've been making plans for a few, not terribly dramatic changes at CDLV. It's mostly a change up in the layout of rooms, making way for a television space on the first floor large enough to accommodate the monthly movie-nights, and award show parties this fall.

Needing inspiration for the inevitable change, I was looking more for color combination than anything else. As you probably already know, the CDLV living room has a beautiful, antique sofa with an interestingly tufted back and side, very English in it's Chesterfield upholstery, but French in it's feminine silhouette. I have a love hate relationship with that sofa, but for better or worse, it stays. The chairs in the living room are Pottery Barn, custom slipped in a citron waxed linen. I've never quite known what other color to put with the two, deciding ultimately on a deeper citron green.

Today, however, with Pinterest at it's best, I found the perfect color combination inspiration in photos of a lavish and vividly unique San Francisco Pied-à-terre, designed by the wickedly talented, Thomas Britt.
Happy Weekend!

Space to Fill - Vol 2. Issue 1

Well, happy Labor Day (belated) and end of summer to all of you who are already starting to feel the change. I remember, growing up in Texas, Labor Day only signaled the beginning of school, for summer seemed to last well into October. Here, however, the seasons really do begin to change in the beginning of September. The sun sets a little earlier, the nights are a little colder, the trees and flowers put out the last of their fruit and bloom, and the wonders of fall begin.

I know you're all probably longing for summer to stay, and there's a part of me that does too, but today, with this Space to Fill, now in it's second volume due to our September change, I'm celebrating the coming of my favorite season/s, Autumn into Fall.

Space to Fill - Vol. 1 Issue 1

I felt that it was important that I post today. I'm not sure why? I have absolutely nothing worthwhile to share. No fascinating decorating news or ideas, no personal revelations, no fun cat videos. I just thought the blog was, a little lonely.

So, in an effort to give it the attention it needs and deserves, here are some beautiful rooms, vignettes, and photos I've found around Pinterest while poking around today. They've got both nothing, and everything to do with each other all at the same time ... seemed like the perfect collage for this space to fill:
