I was bad ...

I'd like to say that I spent the evening working on getting the rest of the ground floor photo ready, but sadly, that's not true. No, indeed, I spent almost the entire night here - on the telephone and reading my favorite old cookbooks for recipes.

Yes, one day - when my house is clean and beautiful again, I'll have a dinner party - and I'll need something fabulous for my guests to feast upon. Til' then, I'll take respite here in this chair. Ah, sweet bliss.

Happy Thursday!

  2. Claiming back one's house after Christmas is quite a chore. To spend a night relaxing is allowed.

  3. Twin, I love this room - it's so warm and inviting. That little secretary worked out wonderfully, and the basket is prettier than you described!
I think rollover minutes are something I will never see again. :o

  7. I don't remember ever seeing this part of the living room. I love it. So warm and inviting. Don't feel guilty for putting your feet up. Any good party takes lots of planning. Consider it time well spent.

  8. Artie, I love your chairs! They look so inviting. It's the kind of weather for curling up with a throw and a good book. I'm taking a pate from Katie Scarlet and worrying about cleanup tomorrow! ;-)

  10. No, I'm not taking a "pate," but rather a PAGE from her book. I'm not out taking scalps this morning. LOL!

  11. What a luxary! I adore and miss sitting back and reading a good cook book. I received Ina's new book for Christmas. You can never go wrong with Ina. I have a lot of guts sitting here - my niece is coming for an extended weekend visit and I have done a thing! ~ Robyn

  13. Must confess ... sometimes I pull out my Silver Palate cookbooks and read for the sheer joy of it. My son is a chef and I will also pull out a cookbook he did years ago. Have a great weekend, Mr. Artie!

  14. Hi, sweet man...thank you SO much for your input on my pitiful table top. I nearly wet my pants when I saw your name and your suggestions...you are so good at design and I nearly ripped the top of my buffet off, getting stuff off there and fluffing and re-arranging. I just wish I had as pretty accessories as you do....
HOWEVER, I will show you what I did...I think on Tuesday of next week...ANYWAY, again thanks...
    NOW...for your room here...OH, MY..
those comfy chairs look so inviting and the basket...
you just take advantage of this fabulous spot and read all you want. Time tomorrow for cleaning...

  16. I would so enjoy sitting there reading recipes and blogging.

If you haven't connected with Belle try to get in on the Valentine swap. She ended it on Jan 16 and we are to send out our package by Jan 27 but she may be able to hook you up with a valentine swap partner. It's worth a shot.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on the pic - feel free to drop in anytime, I've got 10 years of outdoor pix from this place alone for Outdoor Wednesday lol. Kathy

  24. Thanks for stopping by my blog today! You're only the 2nd guy (that I know of) that has ever left a comment! WOO HOO!!!

I don't think I knew that the photo to the right was yours. I think I remember it from RMS this past summer (or fall?). I don't do that much anymore. Regardless, it's beautiful!

  31. I can understand where Scott is coming from in his refusal to paint the woodwork BUT I saw an episode of Candice Olson's show where she redid a house like yours and painted the woodwork white and used a lot of gray and it was STUNNING!
I love you kitchen inspiration too. Your choices always appeal to me.
    Hugs, B.
