Logic

Are you getting tired of bathroom posts? I am. Interestingly enough, however, there isn't much change going on in the rest of the house for me to talk about. Par for the course I suppose. I've been wrenched with anxiety over the paneling for the bathroom walls. It's important that I do something to cover up the dated pressed plaster walls that exist from the floor to the 3' mark on the wall. As much as I would have loved to take the walls down to the studs and have the whole thing drywalled, that wasn't in the budget. So, quick and clever options for covering it all up became my MO for the past week, and today I was struck with a bit of logic:

Since the doors of CdlV, including the doors in the bathroom, have a 1 large, and 1 small panel wouldn't it only make sense that the paneling adjacent that door, which will wrap the bathroom mimic it?

Tell me what you think. Oh, and I've been wondering why comments were waining. Perhaps it's that dreaded comment box that requires you to put in the blurry word? Well, if it is - it's gone. Sorry to do that to you! Fire away! I'm really curious to see what you all think!

  1. I saw your post title 'logic' and wondered if you were OK .... just kidding. I like the idea of repeating the design of the door in the paneling.

  4. I like the paneling idea too. Not sure about repeating the door though as my eye sees "too busy." However, what if you eliminated the bottom panel and made the paneling more like board and batten? Just strait lines down. It would be more authentic too. I mentioned in an earlier comment about v-groove paneling too. I love it so much, I could do all my ceilings and bathroom walls!

  5. I happen to love the idea of mimicing the door framing ... but I wonder in a small space if you'll feel like it's too much. Think about it. Maybe do the board and batten, first and then put the cross sections in and see. I'm so excited as this comes along! It's gonna be amazing!

  6. I think the idea you came up with is brilliant.

And I'm going to be honest here about the comments. You never come to my blog, you never comment, etc. It's actually bothered me so much that I decided I'd see if you noticed I haven't left any for you. Rest assured, I've read every single post, because I truly care, but I had to to do something to relieve my own bitterness. Or maybe what I did was give IN to my bitterness?

  7. I love your idea as it would add an architectural element, however I too wonder if it may be too busy for your space. Prior to doing it, I think I would complete the tile grout then proceed. Also, is this not the area where you plan to put your towel warming bar? Sometimes, 'less is more'.

  10. Hi Artie, the board and batten wood work is less cottage-ey. I vote for that.

ps: your making me tired with your late nite tile installs. How do you get up in the AM?

    Have a great day, kelley

  12. Brilliant idea, but too many things going on in such a small space. A simpler, cleaner install will blend with the overall design in a timeless fashion.

Can't wait to see the finished space.
    Thanks for sharing,

  14. I would leave that decision until the last possible moment. Sometimes seeing everything in place will decide for me.
