Inspired Journey

Well, some of you saw that I had an aggravating Saturday. After much thought, I decided to delete last night's knee-jerk rant. Let's say - for those of you who thankfully didn't read it ... I had a rather depressing Saturday night after finding that our backyard, furniture, and my car had been spray painted. It's not extensive damage, and most of it is simple to fix, but understandably, I was quite angry.

So today, knowing that I needed to get away from the chaos, Scott and I drove to Rochester for a breather, and I came with camera in tow. Taking photos has always been a passion, a close second to decor and design. Rochester has a yearly festival of lilacs in mid-May and Highland Park, the site of the festival, is a wash of lively color this time of year. Of the hundreds of pictures I took, here are some of my favorites - right from the camera.

They've given me hope, joy, and have allowed me to see the beauty in everything. I hope that they can do the same for all of you!

Tomorrow - dining room update with photos! Can you stand it!?

  3. I cannot believe this Artie! What?! Who the hell would do such a terrible thing? Makes me mad! Glad you and Scott were able to get away and enjoy the rest of your weekend. I hope they catch whoever did this. I'm waiting for your dining room update with baited breath! xoxo Delores

  5. The photos are just incredible. I recently found out I can't grow lilacs where I live. Your picture are surely uplifting. Vandalism is the absolute most vile thing I can think that happens to anyone. Makes you feel so vulnerable and violated such a cowardly thing. I'm sorry it happened to you.

  8. Sometimes a nice loud rant is exactly what you need. I am a short fuse kind of person. I scream the instant something happens and feel better but then later feel worse because it didn't change a thing all my screaming anger. In your case when real damage happened someone needs to be held responsible or they will never learn to respect others.

  9. Artie, I'm so sorry your home was vandalized!! That's just terrible. Don't you think that it seems those kinds of things are happening more often these days? I don't get it but it makes me mad.

I'm glad you and Scott got away for some pretty sight seeing.

  11. I guess I missed your Sat post...but I feel for you. A few years ago a few of my charming middle school students sprayed my new gold Honda CRV with RED paint - I was lucky because I drove straight to the dealership and they got most of it off....They are on probation and one of the kids is currently in jail - oh well, that's what happens when you break the law!

Photos are lovely...my daughter works the Lilac Festival!

  19. I don't know why people do such hurtful cruel things like that. I'm glad that you and Scott were able to get away and take some beautiful flower pictures and have some peace the rest of the week-end.

  20. OMGosh, Artie..I just can't believe how mean some folks are. They don't have nice things and don't want anyone else to have them either. Once, awhile back, I had a brand new RED Ford Explorer that I was so in love with. I went up to see a friend in the hospital and when I got back out to my car, someone had KEYED it...from the back bumper to the very front. I just sqwalled my eyes out.
Hope you find out who did this to you.
Your photos are breathtaking. So beautiful.

  22. Sorry about the mean people, they suck! I miss Rochester where my son attended RIT. A lovely city with fun places to explore and I don't suppose I will ever have the need to drive the 400 miles there again, but I could certainly go for some crepes from Simply Crepes!
