Well, it seems like you all are in my shoes - torn between carrara and beadboard. Our new counters are solid surface walnut (tentatively), and carrara in one little area. More on that later.

If you are going with wood counter, I'd definitely do marble on the backsplash. The contrast would be stunning! ~ Maureen
First of all I would like to say that Your kitchen looks like well managed with great color combination. It's inspired me as well. All cabinets looks like new one and the kitchen equipments collection is mind blowing.

Have you done the pulls yet? We have bin pulls (from Restoration H). For some reason a few of the handles have bent away from the drawers. Luckily I ordered extra pulls so replacement was a simple thing.
