Chairs, Trim, Slipcovers ... and a Giveaway

So, I mentioned in my last post that I was thinking about using the Ikea Henriksdal arm chair in my living room paired up with the new gray velvet slipcover. Part of the joy of blogging is having comments and emails from new friends, and sweet, sweet Yolanda emailed me with a few links for similar chairs I wanted to share with you.

Yolanda thought that this camelback slipcovered dining chair from Restoration Hardware would be a great fit in my room because it was a little more traditional, but still had the contemporary lines I was looking for. Plus, for just $400 it's not a bad deal for the look.

Another Restoration Hardware option, same price point, this time with a straight back. I like them both for alternatives to the Ikea option if it can not be found. No matter which one I choose, I've been giving lots of thought to the skirt.

Notice the band of gray at the bottom of this slipcover? I'm in love with that little pop of color at the floor, and I think I might have a way to add that after the fact, with decorative tapes or trims from Calico Corners.

Decorative tapes, like this 2" version designed by Charlotte Moss for Calico Corners are easy to sew onto fabric, adding a lot of pizzazz to otherwise plain or simple beginnings.

I promise, this is the last post about chairs and slipcovers. I'm ready to start shopping and stop planning, so I'll check back in with you at the end of May or early June when all of the pieces should be in place. In other news ...

Many of you have already been over to my art site, Cross Bottle Guy and have checked out the Cross Bottles and Seashell Bottles that I have been making since 2009. I so appreciate all of your sweet comments and purchases, and those of you who have sent me pictures of how you've displayed my work in your home.  Here's your chance to win one of two $50 gift certificates toward the purchase of one bottle on Cross Bottle Guy.

Head over to Kim's Giveaway Site: http://savvysouthernstylereviewsandgiveaways.blogspot.com/ and follow the steps to be entered to win. The drawing will take place in time for you to pick and grab your bottle for Mother's Day! Speaking of ... are you looking for the perfect Mother's Day gift? Look no further ...
