The Brilliance of Benjamin Dhong

As you all know, I'm a big fan of Benjamin Dhong - an interior designer based in San Francisco. I've featured his work here quite a bit. Young, hip, and oh so very current ... Ben is no doubt, one of today's hottest talents in interior design. He hasn't written a book, yet, but I hope that when he does, he sends me a signed copy! Truly! Anyway - imagine my surprise when I got a personal email from Ben with photos of his latest project featured in House Beautiful.

Ben wrote that the project was "his best work ever". And I have to agree, although all of his work has always been special to me.

Jaw dropping, right? I mean - look at those walls! That mirror! The sink, the vanity, the sconces ... oh to be a young, wealthy investment banker! (That was Ben's client, by the way!)

I think that the apartment screams European ... don't you? Modern and Traditional all wrapped up into one with bright colors and patterns ... divine!

Love the pairing of gray and purple, along with those sands and requisite blacks. The stunning bone inlay tables, the symmetry and asymmetry all at the same time. WOW!

More modern touches mixed with traditional pieces and even a few catalog pieces I know you'll find familiar!

One of the reasons I'm drawn to Ben's work is his talent for vignettes. This one is no exception. Stunning.

And again ... I mean, where does he find things like this?

If you told me that you were buying a blonde colored four poster bed with my money, I'd probably jump and down and say no - unless of course, you were Ben, and were capable of building a room like this. Love those lamps!

Great desk - again more modern and contemporary paired with traditional antiques.

Seeing the pattern? And it's NOT CLUTTERED! Can't you just see someone else putting anything and everything they could find in gold, white, or chocolate sepia on that mantel? Not Ben! That statue/form is absolutely perfect!

Oooo, a guest room for me? Love the orange and white.

Of course, the photographer took some glamour shots - so beautiful!

And finally, my favorite from the series. A separate view of the living room space I showed before. That silver tufted couch is amazing! I mean - I can't imagine another place where it would look as good - but here it just blends seamlessly!

Anyway, thank you to Ben for sharing these photos. I do believe that it is some of your best work - I can't wait to see what you pull off next! P.s., where's that book?
