A Picture is Worth ...

I can't even begin to tell you how over-booked I am this week. I don't know that I've ever extended myself this far in two different directions, but it keeps me from spending money and that's always a good thing. Of course, before I didn't have the time to spend money, I had my friend and seamstress Michelle work up this tablecloth for me. Made from taupe and chocolate linen ticking the real luxurious touch is the ribbon brush fringe all the way around the bottom of it. I found the fabric on sale at www.fabricguru.com; a whopping $2.49/yard, and the fringe was also budget priced at Hobby Lobby, the whole 13-yard piece for $44.50. Probably my favorite "budget friendly" item in my house, which has me wondering what's your favorite budget friendly piece in your house?

  2. Lovely, Artie! A great deal, indeed. I think my favorite steal was my antique dr table I got off Craigslist- they practically paid me to take it!

  3. It turned out beautiful Artie and you certainly did get 'a bang for your buck'. ☺

My latest bargain has to be two Ralph Lauren comforters to use in one of our Guest Bedrooms that I recently purchased on sale. One is proposed to use on the (Queensize) bed while the other I've taken apart. The beauty of latter is a triple bonus as besides being a label/designer fabric which I doubt is sold independently it 1) co-ordinates perfectly 2)the fabric is seamless and 3)as it was reversible there is more than sufficient yardage to create whatever my heart desires plus due to its pattern it can be used for accent/contrast piping or trim. -Brenda-

  6. Fabricguru.com has some great bargains. You chose a lovely one; great trim too. My latest bargain was a long footstool upholstered in a lovely suzani embroidered silk that I bought at Home Goods on clearance.

  7. This is stunning...it looks very expensive, way more than your bargain prices. The colors are just beautiful.

I have so many favorites in my house, and everything is done on a dime store budget. :) One of my favorites is an old slate board used in either a restaurant or school. I paid $4.00 for it. It's so heavy I can't hang it. :(

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

    Wishing you a beautiful Friday.

    xoxo

  9. Artie, your tablecloth is stunning! I love how it falls so gracefully to the floor and then seems to float. My favorite budget item would have to be the horrid resin busts I bought at a dusty discount shop. You may remember them--a his 'n her, slightly Romanesque, faux bronze. I spray painted them cream and glued shells to their heads. It looks as if a crazed beautician held them hostage and gave them permanent "permanents." Curls that curl forevs! I love the busts because they are so outrageous and slightly tasteless. Like their mistress can be. :-) Bought them at a dusty "discount" store that was heaped with stuff from the over-the-top 80s. Already had the spray paint and shells.
