Day 7/33: Living Room

The living room. Gosh, the saturation of the oranges and reds in the rugs, pillows, and throws are way out of line with the actual coloring of the space. I've been working with the camera, and eliminated the noise in the background of the image ... but I can't get the saturation down.

Thankfully, I have a neighbor who is familiar with DSLR's and Photoshop and has offered to help me with a few things. Til' then - I sure hope that you can look past the dayglow orange until I fix this and enjoy the composition of the space.

  1. I always love all your spaces -- the additional "clutter" on the "coffee table" -- the mantle with the globes and you got a one of those wonderful terra cotta cloches! I love the pillows and the rug and can see them not as they're photographed in "dayglow" but as they probably are!

You're becomming a very good photographer!

But I love everything about Case De La Vanderdogan!

  2. Your compositions are always wonderful! You will get used to your camera too. That's so cool you have a neighbor that knows Photoshop. Are you using a tripod?
    Have a wonderful week end!

  3. It actually makes the room glow and I think you can tell it is camera shot, not the true colors. You must be having fun with this project, I know I'm having fun following you around the house.

  5. I see a stylist tag at the end of your name in your future! I'm loving this series! You have amazing accessories and know just how to present them. Pure magic, twin! I wish I could answer your dayglow issue, but I am clueless! It's a cool effect, though! =)

  9. This looks quite seasonal -- gosh I'm so bad with my photography that I don't even know enough to be able to blame ANY of it on the camera!

  11. I love the look of the orange! In fact, I cover that throw blanket. Where did you buy it? And I love that you have tons of books on the table. Looks fabulous. I still can't get myself to like that painting though. It looks torturous and depressing. Waaaaaaaaaa

  12. I think your pictures are just great- the "orange glow" is perfect for this time of year!! My son loves photography and is always trying to tell me about aperture- lens speed etc. If my lil ol brain could only comprehend it all!

Do love that wonderful coffee table- such a unique find.

  13. I have the same problems with some of my rooms when photographing---especially since I have moved my orange turkish rug into one of my dining areas!! and I have reddish plaid tablecloths---really hard to get the photos to look right!! If you learn some tips you will have to share them.

  14. Thanks for visiting my blog! You really do have to try the buffalo chicken dip ;)

I love, love, love how your room is decorated! Beautiful colors and that rug is die for. I can't wait to cruise around the rest of your blog and see what else I can find!

    Have a great week!

  15. I bought a fancy dancy camera (Canon Rebel xsi) and I use only ONE setting - it's the 'no flash' setting! I unfortunately don't have the patience that you do, to experiment and be brave - good for you! I also have Photoshop Elements and again, I use just a few options. My biggest ah-ha moment was using a tripod for EVERYTHING...also, to resize because a lot of images that appear blurry will come crisp when I shrink it down to about a 3x5. Off I go again...xoTrina
