A week? Really?!?

Actually, a bit more than a week has gone by now without hide or hair from me, and I have to apologize to all of you for that. I usually don't have you hanging so long, but things have just been happening at an accelerated pace around funky town lately - and it's left me a little winded at the end of the day.

I did find some amazing photos of a Brandywine Valley historic tour we'll be going on in the near future ... I'll of course be taking my own photos to share, but til' then - take a peak. It's quite inspiring:

Now when we spent early September in Newport, RI last year, I thought that it would be the place I'd call home in the coming years ... but after taking a few Internet tours of the area ... perhaps Brandywine Valley will change my mind. If you're from the area and have fantastic places in mind that we shouldn't miss - email me!
Finished pergola post coming soon ...

  1. Several years ago, we lived in the Brandywine Valley. It was so beautiful...and my first time living in the North. If it wasn't for winter (not seeing green grass for months was difficult for this native Floridian), we might still be there. In this area, while driving the backroads, you would often come across cannons, left from the Rev. War...just facing the road. The serpentine homes and bridges throughout the area are beautiful...And be sure to visit Winterthur. The gardens are spectacular! No wonder Andrew Wyeth, Peter Sculthorpe, and others painted these scenes...

  9. I lived near the Brandywine area of Pa. before moving to Florida 3 years ago. It is a beautiful area and full of history. I miss riding horses there. It's a great place to do antique hunting. I actually ran into Andrew Wyeth at the former Chadds Ford Inn. He was dining with Hilga, his subject from the famous painting. His farm was up the road from the restaurant and he frequented the inn quite often. I know you will get inspired when you visit the area. What time of year are you going?
