TUESDAY: Inspiring Spaces by Tom Stringer

Today's Inspiring Spaces are from the great design talent of Tom Stringer. I think I first "met" Tom when reading a feature on his home in the October 2008 Traditional Home magazine. I was instantly drawn to his traditional flair, twisted up with a modern air. In fact, his website boasts Classic Style Modern Sensibility.

He's Chicago based - so if you're in the area and have some money to spend ... he might be your guy! An avid traveller, scuba diver, yachter - it's no surprise that Stringer is inspired by the earth - and his comfortable, personal interiors are evidence of his strong interior design ability.

“A home should embody the spirits of the occupants and contain objects that are a part of their family’s lineage as well as things they’ve acquired themselves.”

I couldn't have said it better myself. So, just like every other Tuesday, I leave you know with my favorite inspiring spaces hoping it pushes you to be greater, live better, and embrace change!

  2. Oh Artie-Such a feast for the eyes. I love all the symmetry...but have you ever tried to hang pictures perfectly straight and even like that? Yeah...what a nightmare, huh?

I love both dining rooms and I really like the edgy painting in the 4th? picture from the top. I thought at first I was looking at a lightly erased blackboard. How cool is that!

As I was looking at those black twin beds I am noticing that the footboards are higher than the headboards....oh...I'll bet it just an optical illusion. They are unusual and I like them.

    Have a good evening! Diana

  3. love his design work. I have been doing a lot of Fall inspired post and his room with the black and whites of trees would make a great fall decorating change for the season. Love that idea. I need to put that one in my file if that is alright with you and Tom, ARtie.Happy Tuesday,Kathysue

  4. I have been following Tom Stringer for a while. I have clipped many of the images that you have shown. His design is clean and fresh. The use of space is great with out having to stage the images for better effect. The spaces are easily navigated. No space is overly designed and all spaces are easily and comfortably livable. His use of color is not predictable either.Refreshing and a good find.

  8. I've never heard of him and I'm so glad you are introducing his work to us. There is absolutely not one thing I would change in these rooms. The framed collections are my favorite.

  9. I love the way your eyes go to the space between the black & white prints above the sofa. Maybe it's just me, but art work itself. Great wall hanging maybe? Enjoyed looking and getting inspiration.

I loved Emily's new show my Husband and I wanted her to win..She really gave her audience a lot of information and she redid the room three times (amazing).
    I have become a follower.
