I picked up my copy of this book just a few weeks ago, and I've barely put it down. I've even taken it to work with me to peruse during breaks and lunches, and forced myself to stop reading while driving. Scary, I know! But with images so evocative ... it's hard not to take every possible opportunity to soak them up.
A passionate creator, her rooms are layered to perfection, not a detail missed, and you will certainly gain scads of inspirational ideas from the more than 240 pages! So, what do you have to do to get your hands on this little book? Well - it's not so little, in fact, it's pretty heavy ... but I digress, simply leave a comment, and let me know how you use things from the past in your interior design.
If you're a follower, leave another comment telling me so! And if you're not a follower - then sign up to follow, and leave a second comment to be entered twice! I'll pick a random comment on Saturday afternoon, and send the book out Monday morning!
Good luck!
P.S., All comments are enabled for this post! So please, throw your name in the hat!
Artie I would love to add this book to my design library!!! What a wonderful giveaway. I am a long-time follower from waaaay back!!! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteThis looks fabulous! OMG, what don't I use from the past in my design? I think my favorite is old books. I bought a bunch today at the goodwill outlet and ripped the covers right off and am displaying them like that wrapped in twine. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWould love to own this book! And am really enjoying your posts!
ReplyDeleteI incorporate things from the past in my design by re-using them for a different purpose: an old box holds a plant; vintage glass bottles become vases; a rickety chair gets painted and used as a side table. Love re-using things from the past and would love the book!
ReplyDeleteI am a devoted follower of your inspiring blog too!
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to own this beautiful book. Please add me to the list...
ReplyDeleteOh looks like a wonderful book, and yes, I do use vintage, and repurposed treasures in my decorating!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!

I would love to have a peek at this book...okay, more than a peek!
ReplyDeleteI love scouring antique and 2nd hand shops for anything and everything from the past and then layering them up with new pieces in a way that's pleasing. My home is a total mix of old and new.
Love your blog, I'm a follower. I don't always comment but I read all your posts.

We just bought a 70yr-old house and have been slowly repairing and updating structural needs. Sadly, this has taken priority over decorating the inside...though I did repurpose the salvaged windows as bathroom mirrors.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for inspiration to make this house comfortably beautiful and have enjoyed following your blog! 240pgs of additional inspiration would be fantastic!

ReplyDeleteWe live in a house that used to be the Mint of Goa in the 1830s. The challenge is to use the old things in a new way, so as to not be overwhelmed by the period furniture. I'd love the book - might help freshen up things here a bit!
ReplyDeleteI have many thing from the past in my home and they are just as lovely as the new things...just a little more loved! The best part of seeing these things daily are the memories they bring back!
ReplyDeleteoh, and of course, I follow!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower! Please throw my name in too!

I almost bought this book earlier this week, would love to own it. I'm a follower! Check out my water gardening book giveaway at http://aquascapeinc.blogspot.com/2011/04/water-gardening-book-giveaway.html.
ReplyDeleteShe is a terrific designer. It would be great to have a look at her book. Your blog is also a regular of mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
One of my favorite things from the past is a tray where I placed memorabilia from my trip to France under the glass. Every time I look at it I remember collecting that leaf in a park in a small town in Provence. peggy from PA
ReplyDeleteI try to repurpose my old furniture before just tossing it out. Adding a few layers of paint, or stripping something down and staining it can really give an old piece a new vibe!

ReplyDeleteSo, how do I use things from the past in my design?
Well, I pretty much only shop and buy things that are old, with patina. Most of my dishes are vintage for my tablescapes too. Does this count for two entries?
Thank you for this lovely giveaway. Even if I don't win it, I'm buying this book! If you are reading it while driving, it must be good! xo Delores
Looks like a wonderful read!! THanks for dropping my name in the hat!
ReplyDeleteBeen a happy follower for a long time!
ReplyDeleteHi Artie,
ReplyDeleteI'm a devoted follower of your blog and would love to win this book! I tried to leave a comment earlier, but I don't think it went through. So here goes again: I love incorporating vintage into my design, in fact most of my tablescapes are with vintage dishes. The book looks wonderful. It sounds like it is, especially since you even took it to work! If I don't win, I will definitely buy this and add to my library of design books. Thanks for this giveaway Artie. You're the best! ~Delores

Omg I always use old 'stuff'! To me a room is just a decorator room until you throw in things that are heirlooms, have a history or look like they do. Right now I've got a sewing machine treadle base as a bottom of an end table. A chinoiserie plant stand that came back with my husband's aunt from their tour of duty in Japan eons ago has been fitted with a little pillow to make it a perfect stool, I turned a very vintage hutch into a bar. Oh, my husband's sterling baby dish holds a Seda candle. Our son's sterling cup holds pencils.. and the list goes on and on. I'm so excited to be given the chance to win this exciting book. It would certainly be welcomed here! Thanks for hosting Artie!
ReplyDeleteArtie, I follow, I subscribe, even if I don't win, I'm happy just reading your blog. a big Texas hug, Marlis
ReplyDeleteOh boy, what don't I use from the past... I have my grandparents dining room set, a couple of old trunks from them too. The one item I truly wanted to inherit from my mother was a lamp I have in my living room now that I wouldn't trade for the world. I have several items of milk glass that belonged to her also. I have an old iron bed in my guest room that was the first antique I purchased at age 18 for a whopping $14.00. I also was given a wonderful old Singer treadle sewing machine by a neighbor lady when I was sixteen which is now being used as a night table in my master bedroom. So many things from the past that I can't name them all. I couldn't part with any of them!
ReplyDeleteI love to use actual items from my family's history in my home. You can always revamp anything to fit your lifestyle, and there is something that just says "home" when your surrounded by the things you love and the stories and memories that go along with them.

Oh I hope I"m not too late. I would love the opportunity to own this book, Artie. I use things from my past in my decorating, almost exclusively. The table we used as our wedding registry table is now our dining room sideboard, and the benches my husband made for our foyer were milled from an old tree that fell on my mother's house.
ReplyDeleteThat's making the best out of a bad situation, I tell ya! :)
Oh, yes, I love your blog, and I follow!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like some pretty perfect reading! Count me in :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a generous and thoughtful gesture Artie!
ReplyDeleteAs I already have the book (and it is wonderful), best of luck to all those who enter your giveaway.
