Heads Up: Scot Meacham Wood Holiday Decorating Contest

One of my favorite bloggers, and inspiring interior designers, Scot Meacham Wood of The Adventures of Tartanscot, is making an annual event of his Holiday Decorating Contest, and I want each and every one of you who haven't entered to run over and do so before this Saturday, December 17th.

I think this is the perfect contest for Scot to host, as his own Holiday decorating has inspired just about everyone in blog-land, (certainly me) and I'm sure many, many more. I remember first seeing his 2005 Holiday decorations on his beautiful portfolio site: http://www.smwdesign.com/

then again in 2008 when he did the same apartment with a completely different theme:

but nothing beats last year, when Scot was featured in Rue Magazine. and he draped his entire apartment in silk taffeta, creating one of the most magical dining rooms I've ever seen:

So again, clearly, he's qualified to be running the show, right? Scot has three categories, (1) Christmas Tree, (2) Dining Room, and (3) Fireplace Mantel. The contest is judged be an esteemed panel of interior designers, and will grant the winner a great prize, not yet revealed.

All of this year's entries are fabulous, but a favorite of mine is the home of Mitch Tannehill in New Jersey.

Beautiful right? This home is obviously beautifully designed, and I love that Mitch grabbed pics of his Frenchies in the pics. What's Christmas without the family, right?

Good luck to everyone, and if you wanna throw your name in the hat ... Straight from Scot:
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: The contest is open to both interior designers and design enthusiasts who want an opportunity to showcase their work in the 'Tartanscot Holiday Decorating Contest'.
HOW TO ENTER: Submit clear photographs (up to a maximum of four photos per category) of each room designed by you to (HolidayContest@SMWDesign.com). It can be either your own personal home or a home designed by you for a client, just as long as it is your OWN work. Photograph from every angle, including close-ups and special details. Images should be no larger than 1MB and in jpg format. Provide your full name and address.

Now run , grab your camera, and email Scot with your pics. I know he'll love it! P.S., I'm clearly avoiding my own Christmas decorating this year. I know you've noticed ...

  5. Hi Artie:

I don't think I've ever commented on your blog, but follow it daily! I have loved all the Christmas posts.

For some reason, (maybe I've seen a lot in stores this year so it's subliminal), I have LOVED tartan plaids for Christmas decorating. I wrapped all of my gifts in a red tartan plaid or brown paper with coordinating ribbons. I love burlap and have used two raggedy pieces for over 10 years now as a tree skirt. The burlap looks fabulous with the plaids. And this year, added burlap ribbon inside the tree.

The tartan plaids are just in my veins now, so thank you for this post today.
